1. How did you come up with the idea?
The idea for 958.com was inspired by Alex Tew's successful website milliondollarhomepage.com. Since Alex started his website at the end of August 2005, there have been many imitators. However most of the domain names of these copycat websites were very long and hard to remember. After some brainstorming, I realized that a shorter domain name would distinguish this website from the other websites. That's when I hit upon a 3 digit domain name. 3 digits are easy to remember, easy to type and understood in any language. Thus was born 958.com.
2. Is this a joke?
No. This website is not a joke. It is real. I really am selling 1 pixel for 1 dollar. When I receive your payment, I will put your ad on the pixel grid.
3. Where are you located?
Southern California.
4. Why should I buy your pixels?
Because by having an image and a link to your site on 958.com, your ad could potentially be seen by millions of people over the coming years. 958.com will be online for at least 7 years. But the idea is to keep it online forever. So you really could own a piece of 'internet history'! 958.com is also a fairly short 3 digit domain name. In that regard, it is easy to remember and type (less typos / typing mistakes). The domain name is also recognizable in any language which means any ads placed on 958.com are likely to be seen world wide.
5. What will you do with the money?
The first thing I will use the money for is maintenance of this website. Whatever remains will be used as seed money for new internet startup businesses and to pay off student loans.
6. Do you offer refunds?
No. Once your image and link are added to the website they are there for a minimum of 7 years. If you need your image and website removed at some point in the future, they can be removed but no refunds will be given.
7. How long will the site be online?
Nothing lasts forever. However, this website will be online for a minimum of 7 years guaranteed (at least until December 2012). Hopefully the website will still be running long after that point. This website is not meant to be static. I will be adding new features to this website through the navigation bar in the coming months. However, the pixel grid is meant to be permanent. When all the pixels have been purchased, the pixel grid will be in its final form and no further changes will be made.
8. How long will it take to get my ad online?
I will make every effort to place your pixel ad on the site within 24 hours, provided your payment has been received and has cleared and you have submitted a correctly sized image. However there may be delays due to a mass of orders coming in at one time. All ads will be placed on the grid in the order they are received. If the same block of pixels is requested by two different parties, the party that sent payment first will have priority.
